The Individuals Deposit Insurance System is a set of measures to protect the rights and legitimate interests of depositors by paying insurance compensation to depositors in the event of an insured event in the credit institutions of a member of the Individuals Deposit Insurance Fund.

The purpose of the Individuals Deposit Insurance System is to ensure financial stability of the Republic of Tajikistan, including maintaining public confidence in the banking system.

The basis for the operation of the individuals deposit insurance system is regulated by the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On insurance of the individuals’ deposits". In order to ensure the effectiveness of the individuals deposit insurance system, the Individuals Deposit Insurance Fund (hereinafter the Fund) operates. The Fund pays insurance compensation to depositors in the event of an insured event, maintains a register of credit institutions that are members of the Individuals Deposits Insurance System, maintains accounting and collection of payments from credit institutions.

The objectives of the Fund are:

• Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of depositors through the payment of insurance compensation;
• Strengthening public confidence in the banking system of the Republic of Tajikistan.
